Certainly one of the most iconic "moments" in the history of rock music. An incredible song performed in majestic fashion by three of rock's greatest guitarists and voices ever. I always watch this video in absolute awe, but emotional about what was, never to be again. What a man David was! And what a loss his demise was to humanity. #Respect Cheers from South Africa. 🇿🇦

Minority opinion: this is their best live record. Their are a few cuts on The Name of this Band is Talking Heads that are great--the stuff from 1978, when they were truly on fire live--and of course the tracks from this concert that are on TNOTBITH. The second disc of TNOTBITH (whether on LP or CD) presents the first version of the expanded band 1980-1981. Not my cup of tea. I saw them live twice in 1980. Having said that, I saw them again twice in 1982, with the new version of the expanded band that would eventually record Speaking in Tongues and the live album Stop Making Sense. But in 1982, Speaking in Tongues was still a year away, so the band played from the existing catalog and from their solo records, especially David Byrne's The Catherine Wheel. These 1982 concerts were the best since their early days. The show at Forest Hills Tennis Stadium in New York City in August of 1982 was behind description, but John Rockwell of the NY Times did a good job in his review of that show ("Rock: Talking Heads Fans Get a Night to Remember"). Jerry Harrison is quoted as saying it was the best concert they ever gave. The video compilation Talking Heads Chronology has two videos from 1982 concerts. One can wish for a complete release of a 1982 show, especially Forest Hills. Stop Making Sense, in my opinion, is fine but a bit over-processed, if you just listen and don't watch the movie. Then there is the radio-only LP release, Live on Tour, that records a concert in Cleveland late in 1978. Three cuts from that are on TNOTBITH, but the best cuts ("Warning Sign," "Artists Only") and the remainder of the LP are unreleased.

One of the greatist song for me,this song was our graduation song when I garadueted my high school back in 1982.

Ich fand die Moderatorin an einigen Stellen zuwenig feinfühlig, wenngleich sie wohl eine toughe Frau ist. Sie hat mir zuviel "gebohrt", das muss nicht sein, gerade wenn jemand zu persönlichen sensiblen Themen in der Öffentlichkeit spricht und das auch inneren Druck macht aus Sorge, wie darauf reagiert wird "draussen". Schade, das Gespräch hatte keinen "sicheren Rahmen". Das ist Aufgabe der Moderation, wenn es eine talkshow mit Anspruch ist! So wie das z.B.im "Nachtcafé" stattfindet. Also, irgendwie "am Thema vorbei" getalkt, um es neutral zu formulieren. Man muss keine Unsicherheiten forcieren, wenn es u.a.gerade darum geht, zumal die Moderatorin und Teilnehmer deutlich älter waren! Wer wird sich dann noch öffnen im Nachgang? Aber: Aus Erfahrung lernt man...

When i first heard the song i just said , honestly what a beautiful song

I heard that PS was always envious that AG was the one singing "his" song. Art fits so much better. I get why Paul could feel this way. Its like your child that is more joyful playing with their uncle than you as their father. Later on in life we learn that we just want each other to be happy and there is a "happy" felt with many other people that you may not have with one that you have with another. No difference really, just another wave of joy. Paul Simon sounds really full and peaceful here in this performance. I must say that Art Garfunkel was born for that song however. He ethereal tone and angelic highs really transport us to a place where for me, I feel the memories of how many times my God has taken me through the most troublesome of waters and set me free on the other side of it. It is a memory of peace and tranquility and that is the stuff that a life most wonderful is lived. With Gratitude towards a Creator who not only gives you manifold blessings, but the hard times to appreciate them also.

Pure magic in 2024

My mom turned me onto Simon&Garfunkel many years ago. She passed in 2010..I am now 47. My high school years I was listening to this in the 90s on a record player in my bedroom andsharing ..or making!! my friends listen to these amazing artists. Listenn tday on Mothers Day and just wow..they are sooo good..touches the soul and bring a smile and tears ❤

Except for the Mac, there isn't much atmosphere for a New Year's Eve bash (even though you've displayed confusingly to this Sourh-Londoner) albeit wasn't born myself till summer of 73❤❤❤

Do they still sing together? So beautiful. Mother's Day here in US. Taking time out to listen to my favorite stars. When I was teenager, my sister and I danced our weekends at discos in. England. We had such innocent fun. My sister lived to dance. She passed suddenly some years ago. Blessings.
